Driving the Feminisation of Scientific Professions

The underrepresentation of women in Scientific and Technological fields is a major challenge for companies. Gender stereotypes, the lack of female role models, and systemic biases continue to limit women’s advancement and access to these sectors. Yet, diversity of perspectives is essential to solving the complex challenges of our time. Encouraging and supporting women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) fields is a priority for building a more inclusive and prosperous future.

Aware of this challenge, the Group is actively working to encourage young women to pursue careers in engineering by:

  • Working to change the perception of industry’s image in the eyes of the generations to come, particularly young women.
  • Guaranteeing equal opportunities for women and men throughout their career paths.
  • Promoting a healthy work-life balance for all.
  • Aiming for a well-balanced representation of women and men in our workforce.
  • Encouraging women’s access to managerial positions.

ALTEN Group initiatives

The Women@ALTEN community

The Women@ALTEN network aims to bring together women and men worldwide to discuss gender diversity and equality. Local initiatives complement these efforts. In France, for example, ALTEN partners with the Elles Bougent association, which seeks to raise awareness among young women about scientific and technical careers to increase their representation in engineering recruitment.

Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs)

By joining the United Nations’ Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), the Group is strengthening its efforts to promote gender equality, particularly in the workplace.

The Women’s Empowerment Principles, a joint initiative of UN Women and the UN Global Compact, support companies in promoting gender equality, in line with the 2030 Agenda and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

To combat certain widespread stereotypes and misconceptions

For nearly 10 years, ALTEN has been actively committed to International Women’s Rights Day, highlighting the women who shape technological innovation. Through their testimonials, these employees share their experiences and the opportunities offered by scientific and technical careers.

Convinced that women’s place in the industry is a major societal issue, ALTEN strives to inspire, raise awareness, and encourage more female talent to pursue careers in STEM fields.

This signature testifies to the Group’s desire to continue to make gender equality a lever to meet the challenges of the future. ALTEN is committed to 4 priority areas through various actions, so that women and men in engineering can envision and design together tomorrow’s world.

ALTEN Polska supports women’s development

At ALTEN Polska, we are aware of the value that diversity brings to the organization – as many as 60% of our management staff are women. We create a friendly work environment in which professional development leaves room for personal life, which is particularly important for women returning from maternity leave.

We fight stereotypes and also promote our female experts by enabling them to participate in technology events. One of the initiatives is the Technology? IT’s a girl! conference – a space for exchanging ideas and networking created for female specialists working in the technology industry.

Observing the job market, I see a need to support young women who lack self-confidence, as well as social acceptance not to copy the male management style.

It is diversity that is the source of energy that enables innovation.
