Modern Courier Application for Improved Hospital Logistics

Project Title: Courier Application for Hospital Warehouse
Client: University Clinical Centre (UCK)
Industry: Life Science & Health
Expertise: Application development
Scope of the project: Development of a mobile and web application
Tools: JavaScript, Angular, .NET Core, Ionic
The development of a courier application for a hospital warehouse involves designing and implementing an IT system to manage the delivery of medical supplies between the warehouse and hospital wards. This system ensures full control over shipments, enabling real-time tracking and the elimination of errors and delays.
Managing the delivery of medical supplies to hospital wards is a crucial process for the smooth operation of any healthcare facility. ALTEN Polska (formerly Solwit) designed a state-of-the-art IT system that ensures full control over shipments, eliminating the risk of errors and delays.
ALTEN Polska’s expertise included designing a solution to enable efficient communication between the warehouse, couriers, and recipients within the hospital. Through a detailed analysis of the client’s needs, the team developed an application that optimizes daily logistics processes.
ALTEN Polska Team’s Task
The client required a solution that would accelerate the dispatch process, allow for shipment tracking, and minimize the risk of errors during deliveries. The primary goal was to create a system that would replace paper documentation, reduce the time spent on logistics, and enhance shipment security.
Project Progress
ALTEN Polska conducted a thorough operational analysis and designed the “e-Courier” application in both mobile and web versions. The system includes modules enabling:
- Real-time shipment status tracking,
- Efficient management of courier tasks,
- The use of barcodes for shipment scanning, eliminating human errors.
The system also supports integration with label printers, simplifying the process of marking shipments. All logistics documentation is stored digitally, enabling the rapid generation of reports and statistical analyses.
Final Outcome
The developed application significantly streamlined the logistics processes at UCK. Users can now monitor deliveries in real time, create orders, manage shipments, and generate statistics. The system provides full identification of responsible individuals at each stage of delivery through LDAP-based authentication.
Furthermore, the technologies used allow for the application’s future development, such as adding functionalities for managing pharmaceutical deliveries while maintaining high data and process security standards.
Summary
The project delivered by ALTEN Polska demonstrated that digital transformation of logistics processes in the medical sector yields tangible benefits. The “e-Courier” application enhanced the efficiency of hospital teams, ensured full transparency of deliveries, and contributed to saving time and resources.
