The re-architecture of e-invoicing systems (AP/AR) involves
adapting accounting and invoicing systems to new legal and technological requirements. It includes modifying data flows and integrating new interfaces to enable automated invoicing processes in full compliance with local regulations, ensuring operational continuity.

This project aimed to align the client’s internal e-invoicing systems (AP/AR) with new regulatory requirements in Italy. The changes involved updates in SAP, SAP PI, Move it, Mapping, invoice formatting, and the implementation of a SaaS interface with the provider. The objective was to adjust the SAP systems, invoice layout, and IT interfaces to meet the new legal standards set by the Italian regulator.

Project Execution

Work began in April 2021 and concluded in March 2022. The updates addressed SAP, SAP PI, Move it, Mapping, invoice formatting, and the SaaS interface, with a key focus on minimizing the risk of financial penalties for non-compliance. As Project Manager, ALTEN’s role included defining goals, gathering business requirements, reviewing proposals, managing the budget, and coordinating IT team efforts. Additionally, the project required supporting interface development, adapting mapping, understanding tax logic, and translating requirements into IT language.

ALTEN’s Project Manager also monitored project progress, managed change requests, resolved issues, adapted to new demands, and ensured budget compliance. Transparency and daily communication with contractors and business departments were essential to overcoming challenges, including language barriers, as some contractors spoke only Italian.

Final Outcome

Thanks to ALTEN’s effective management and commitment, the project was completed on schedule, fully meeting the client’s business expectations and enabling seamless operational continuity in Italy.
