Certification of Components for the Automotive Industry

Project Title: Certification of Components for the
Production of Modern Commercial Vehicles – Internal Combustion, Electric, and Hydrogen Powertrains
Client: Global leader in the automotive industry

Industry: Motoryzacyjna | Automotive

Expertise: Quality

Scope of the project: Analysis and design of vehicle components

Tools: Catia V5, client’s internal tools

The automotive certification process involves the verification and approval of vehicle components for compliance with safety standards, quality, and technical requirements. This is a critical phase that ensures all parts meet stringent standards, guaranteeing the reliability and safety of the vehicle in use and its approval for mass production.

The project of developing modern commercial vehicles includes various powertrain versions, such as internal combustion, electric, and hydrogen models, making it an ambitious endeavor in the automotive sector. The ALTEN Polska team is responsible for key tasks related to the certification of structural parts, particularly for the interior, body, and chassis, ensuring that all components meet technical and quality requirements.

Project Execution

The project consists of five stages, with the third and fourth phases being the focal points of the ALTEN Polska team’s work. At this stage, a detailed analysis of the compliance of structural parts was carried out, verifying technical documentation and testing the assembly of components on the production line. Assembly tests were aimed at eliminating conflicts between components and adapting the design to production requirements. Detailed tolerance checks and measurement results were crucial to ensuring compliance with the design assumptions.

The ALTEN Polska team worked closely with the client’s quality department and component suppliers to ensure that all parts met high automotive standards. Assembly trials (PL and PR) were also conducted, verifying the assembly process on the production line and ensuring that all components met the client’s requirements. Through close collaboration with suppliers and a systematic approach, the ALTEN team ensured the efficiency of mass production.

Final Outcome

The project has reached an advanced stage—two out of three vehicle versions (electric and internal combustion) are being prepared for mass production. All key components have been approved, and the full technical documentation complies with the client’s requirements. Assembly tests confirmed the compliance of individual components with the design assumptions, which is essential for efficient implementation on production lines.

The ALTEN team continues to work on the development of the hydrogen-powered variant, which remains in the development phase. The final completion date for this part of the project has not yet been determined.

Conclusion

Close collaboration with the client and the flexible approach of the ALTEN Polska team allowed for the smooth implementation of the project and high-quality task execution. The certification of structural components and support for mass production met the client’s expectations, leading to the continuation of work on the hydrogen-powered commercial vehicle. Thanks to the team’s commitment, ALTEN strengthens its position as a reliable partner in the automotive industry.
